A daily score built from HRV, resting heart rate, sleep, respiratory rate and other supported signals.
WHOOP app
review.
WHOOP is not a companion utility attached to the band; it is the product. The app converts continuous signals into Strain, Recovery and Sleep decisions, then looks for relationships between habits and outcomes.
The clearest coaching experience here and the best at turning data into a daily decision. Its excellence is inseparable from an active membership, so app quality must be judged together with recurring cost.
What WHOOP looks like
Current promotional screenshots supplied by the app’s developer to Apple App Store. The live interface can vary by phone, account, region and software version.

What the app can actually do
Cardiovascular and muscular load on a 0–21 scale, plus target strain and heart-rate zones.
Sleep need, performance, consistency, stages, efficiency, latency and sleep stress.
More than 160 trackable behaviors with impact analysis after enough consistent entries.
Personalized recommendations, AI Coach, trends and weekly or monthly performance views.
Health Monitor and Stress Monitor sit in higher tiers; ECG and other regulated features require WHOOP MG/Life and regional availability.
Interface, insight and coaching
What it feels like
The interface is built around a morning decision: recover, maintain or push. Color-coded scores are easy to scan, while deeper trend pages remain available. It is more opinionated than Garmin Connect and asks the user to buy into WHOOP’s scoring model.
Behavior analysis
The Journal is a genuine differentiator. After repeated entries, WHOOP estimates relationships between logged behaviors and Recovery or Sleep. These are correlations in personal wearable data, not controlled experiments, so they should guide questions rather than prove causation.
Training and strength
WHOOP records strain and supports Strength Trainer for muscular load. Route and distance tracking use the phone because WHOOP 5.0 has no built-in GPS. The app is strongest for load and recovery context, not maps or on-wrist workout navigation.
Integrations and export
WHOOP supports integrations including Strava, Apple Health, Android Health Connect, TrainingPeaks, Withings and selected reproductive-health services. Members can request data exports, and eligible tiers can produce shareable health reports. Exact fields vary by integration.
Subscription and privacy
WHOOP stores sensitive longitudinal health and behavior data in the account. The Journal can include medication, mental-wellbeing and reproductive entries, so users should log only what they are comfortable storing. Useful platform access and hardware coverage are tied to membership.

Who should choose WHOOP app?
Daily recovery coaching and behavior analysis. App scores are editorial judgments; feature names, availability and subscription boundaries are manufacturer information and may vary by device, phone, region and account tier.
